heARTS, Inc. is excited to announce its participation in the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership organization’s first ever Advanced Leadership Academy.  This exciting new program will bring together high school juniors and seniors for a 5 day national conference to be held February 28-March 4, 2013 at Sandy Cove Retreat Center in North East, MD.   This unique opportunity will empower HOBY Alumni to further their leadership development learned at their local HOBY seminar and create an action plan to lead a service project in their communities.

Students will hone in on their individual leadership skills, explore needs and concerns within their own communities and schools, develop a toolkit of resources to build an action plan for a community service learning project to be completed in their communities and embark in a lifelong commitment to service and excellence.

heARTs will be working with attendees on two different service projects. These projects will benefit organizations in the North East, MD area but can also be replicated in attendees’ home towns at a later date.   heARTS Founder and CEO, Virginia Newsome, will also talk to attendees about how she started her organization and discuss how they can find a need in their community and take action.
